The importance of being urn-ist

I'm glad the two Twenty20 games between England and Australia got rained off. I hope all seven one-day international games get rained off too. The only matches that really mattered this summer were the Ashes, and once the destiny of the urn had been decided, that should have been it. Instead, the dimwits in charge of English cricket decided to cram in a load of inconsequential one-day games.

Had the Twenty20 matches and one-dayers served as precursors to the Ashes, it would have been a nice build-up. Now it just feels like a massive case of after the Lord Mayor's Show. Rain down, rain down, come on, rain down on the ECB, from a great height...
