One of the reasons I joined Bon Accord Cricket Club when I moved to Aberdeen was because of their legendary status in British sport. This is highlighted by John Inverdale's recent article for the Daily Telegraph:

However, a couple of things need clarifying. Firstly, as disappointing as it is, the Bons of the present day have no connection to the Bon Accord FC (aka Orion Cricket Club) who lost 36-0 to Arbroath in the Scottish Cup. Secondly, we're a pretty reasonable cricket team, so I'm not sure if the Bermudan ladies XI would have the easy ride Mr Inverdale predicts. How we'd get on in a football match against Arbroath I couldn't say, but perhaps we should arrange a game and find out.
