The Daily Mail is the very worst of British newspapers, so virulently negative and insular and conservative. It is also spectacularly hypocritical - in the same issue earlier this week, one article attacked the award of a knighthood to Salman Rushdie whilst a few pages later, another praised Bernard Manning to the hilt. Apparently Mr Manning, despite saying things that offended virtually everyone, was a paragon of free speech silenced unfairly by feeble liberals, whilst Mr Rushdie should never be praised because his book The Satanic Verses is hated by many hardline Muslims. So one man making racist, sexist, homophobic jokes is alright, but another writing a blasphemous text is not? You can't have it both ways, Mailtwats.
